Meet the Team: George

In our Meet the Team series, we’ll find out a bit more about the people involved in producing Lochlea single malt whisky.

Today we’re talking to George Elliott, our Production Operator.

What does your job involve?

I’m responsible for milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation and warehouse work.

What’s one job you’d be terrible at?

Chef, easy! Didn’t need to think long about that one, I’d be a terrible chef. I have lots of friends who are chefs and I’ve got loads of respect for them because I couldn’t do it.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I think because it’s such a horrible day outside I’d say ‘In the Rain’ by Ernest Ranglin.

If you could pick a different name for yourself, what would it be?

It’s funny because we’ve already got a Patrick here, but I’ve always liked the name Patrick. I think I’d name my son Patrick.

You can only eat one food for the rest of your life. What are you choosing?

I was going to say pizza but I think I’d end up really bloated, so I’m going to go with ramen. It just covers all the bases.

Where’s the most beautiful place you’ve visited?

Crete was really stunning, the water was the clearest I’ve ever seen. I also went to a really nice loch on the Isle of Arran. I don’t know what it’s called but I could point to it on a map if you asked me to!

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?

I’d say more of an extrovert but I do like time to myself as well.

What’s a typical weekend like for you?

I like going out, I like dancing, and a few pints here and there. Also going to the football with my mates, or just lying in my bed!
