Introducing Cask Strength Batch 2

In 2023, we introduced a first for Lochlea: our very own Cask Strength bottling. Designed for those who enjoy a higher strength dram, it was an award-winning hit and as close to trying a Lochlea whisky straight from the warehouse as possible.

We’re delighted to announce that our Cask Strength family has grown, with the introduction of Batch 2. Launched today, June 10th, our second batch has been matured in a combination of PX Sherry, Oloroso Sherry and STR casks. With so much Sherry influence in there, the whisky is a beautiful, deep ruby colour. Compared to Batch 1, which was matured in first-fill Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, there’s quite a difference!

More importantly, onto flavour. The nose brings fruit, and lots of it. At the forefront you’ll find apples and orange marmalade, followed by summery peach syrup. The palate is delicate; floral notes of rose petals and wild lavender bring a new layer of flavour. The finish has a peppery kick, falling away to rich, dried fruits.

Cask Strength Batch 2 is bottled at 60% ABV and, as with all our whiskies, is non-chill filtered and natural colour.
